Biography

A minister at the court of Vijayaraghava Nayak (reigned 1633 to 1673), according to the sources checked. His treatise stayed in manuscript until the early 20th century, and about 1,200 couplets are known.

Notable contributions

Author of the Chaturdandi Prakashika, the foundation of the melakarta system of 72 parent ragas. Another overview dates the scheme to 1660, so the date is given as 17th century.
