A prominent concert vocalist who studied directly under Papanasam Sivan.

Notable contributions

Helped popularise the songs of Papanasam Sivan, and of Subramania Bharati, in concerts and films. With M. S. Subbulakshmi and M. L. Vasanthakumari she is sometimes called part of the female trinity of Carnatic music.
